Album :
First album of Placebo recorded with Steve Hewitt as drummer, Without you I’ m nothing takes the foundation laid two years earlier in the first Placebo album but in a quite different context and in a style less punk, sometimes more pop style and especially more alternative. Here, there is no more question of the adolescent crisis, but adult relationship and many disappointment in love and addictions. This album opens the period of glamour which Stefan Olsdal and especially Brian Molko will inject the band, in particularly through their appearance on stage with the make-up and feminine attire.
In this album, Placebo shows to the public the ability to take risks by releasing a first single called Pure Morning, at opposite style of the first eponymic album. This title, with an electronic sample, marks the first attempt of the band in this style. Afterward, the band released various single: making from pop rock You Don’ t Care About Us, to melancholic and representative song from Without You I’ m Nothing, through the famous Every You Every . For this last one, we note that it was used as soundtrack to the movie Sex Intentions.
